Les conférences données sous le patronage de l'insti tut n'ont pas été moins nombreuses cette année que par le passé, cependant, pour une raison ou pour une autre, il nous a été impossible d'en publier davantage. Nous offrons nos meilleurs remerciments à tous ceux qui ont bien voulu nous procurer de si agréables soirées en nous faisant part du fruit de leurs études. Nous avons con state avec plaisir que le public prenait goût à ces récréa tions sérieuses et intelligentes. Espérons qu'elles se repèteront au retour de l'hiver. Voici la vacance, tout s'éclaire, tout chante, tout verdoie. Le citadin, fuyant la poussière de nos rues, ira chercher à la campagne le frais et le repos. La belle saison est un temps de mois son pour la littérature; ceux qui se dévouent à son culte vont puiser de nouvelles forces à l'ombre de°nos grands arbres, sur les bords de nos rivières et de noscharmants lacs. Ils nous reviendront chargés d'un riche butin et lorsque le vent d'automne enveloppera notre promontoire, ils nous rendront courtes nos longues et monotones soirées.
