Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Literatur, Note: 2,7, Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Anglistik), Veranstaltung: PS Sprachwandel - The history of English in Translations: the Bible and Boethius, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Erkenntnisinteresse dieser Hausarbeit ist die Entstehungsgeschichte und sprachliche Einordnung des Book of Common Prayer. Dabei werden die gesellschaftlichen, theologischen und literarischen Einflüsse herausgearbeitet, die bewirkten, dass The First Book of Common Prayer 1549 unter Edward VI. veröffentlicht, 1552 unter dem Titel The Second Book of Common Prayer" in revidierter Form erschien und heutzutage hauptsächlich die Version von 1662 in Gebrauch ist. Im ersten, historischen Hauptteil ist die Entstehung des allgemeinen Gebetbuchs der Kirche Englands unter Berücksichtigung des historischen Kontexts und diverser „Vorreiter", die Einfluss auf das Prayer Book nahmen, Gegenstand der Untersuchung. Eine kurze Thematisierung seines Inhaltes und der vorgeschriebene Ablauf des einheitlichen Gottesdiensts werden zur Verdeutlichung, inwieweit sich die Zeit der Reformation und die damit verbundenen Anfänge des Protestantismus auf die anglikanische Kirche auswirkten, beitragen. Der zweite, analytische Teil befasst sich mit der diachronen Sprachwissenschaft. Nach einem kurzen Überblick über die Sprachstufe des Early Modern English, anhand eines Textausschnitts des Holy Communion aus dem allgemeinen Gebetbuch, wird erläutert werden, welche sprachlichen Besonderheiten das Book of Common Prayer auszeichnet. Inwieweit sich Morphologie und Syntax im Speziellen (bezogen auf konkrete Textbeispiele) vom Modern English, und teilweise auch vom allgemeinen Early Modern English unterscheiden, wird examiniert. Im Fazit werden abschließend Rückschlüsse auf die wechselseitige Beziehung von Entstehungsgeschichte und sprach(wissenschaft)licher Merkmale - die ausschlaggebenden Konstituenten der heute gebrauchten Version - von 1662 gez
