Ilona Marita Lorenz es una de ellas. Nació en Alemania en 1939, en vísperas de la invasión de Polonia. Su padre, alemán, era capitán de barco; su madre, americana, había sido actriz. De niña estuvo internada en el campo de concentración de Bergen-Belsen. Poco después de acabar la guerra, a los siete años, fue víctima de una violación. A menudo se embarcó con su padre en los años siguientes. En 1959 llegó a bordo del Berlin a La Habana revolucionaria. Un grupo de barbudos, encabezado por Fidel Castro, subió al barco. El flechazo fue inmediato. Una semana después, el Comandante enviaba a buscarla a Nueva York y la convertía en su amante. Tenía 19 años. Pronto se descubrió embarazada, pero la sometieron a una intervención y el bebé no llegó a nacer... O al menos eso le dijeron. La CIA convenció a Marita de que Fidel era el responsable de lo ocurrido y la enviaron de vuelta a La Habana con la misión de asesinarlo, pero fue incapaz de hacerlo: seguía enamorada de él. Puede parecer suficiente para llenar dos vidas, pero hay más. De regreso a Miami, conoció al ex dictador venezolano Marcos Pérez Jiménez, y tuvo con él una hija. Envnoviembre de 1963, viajó de Miami a Dallas en un convoy del que formaban parte Frank Sturgis, uno de los detenidos en el Watergate, y un tal Ozzie, es decir, Lee Harvey Oswald. Más tarde fue party girl de la mafia neoyorquina e informante de la policía. Se casó y tuvo un hijo con un hombre que espiaba a diplomáticos soviéticos para el FBI. La historia de Marita tiene luces y sombras. Pero sobre todo es una historia de amor y peligro. La de una espía que, por encima de todo y a pesar de sí misma, amó al Comandante.
